Working towards sustainable solar energy for UK homes

Sustainable Home Energy

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important for households across the UK. It’s not just about reducing carbon – it’s about lowering bills, improving comfort, and taking control of how your home uses energy.

What sustainability means for your home

Why sustainability?

Solar energy sustainability is becoming increasingly important for households across the UK. It’s not just about reducing carbon – it’s about lowering bills, improving comfort, and taking control of how your home uses energy.

Managing energy costs at home

Energy markets can change quickly. Taking a more sustainable approach helps households reduce reliance on the grid, giving you more protection against rising costs, and creating more predictable energy spend over time.

Reducing reliance on fossil fuels

Today, around half of the UK’s electricity still comes from fossil fuels. The cleanest and greenest energy is the energy you don’t need to buy from the grid. By generating your own solar energy and using it more efficiently, you reduce demand on the wider energy system and help make it more balanced.

Improving energy efficiency & comfort

Using less energy doesn’t just reduce environmental impact – it helps your home run more efficiently on a day-to-day basis. Smart technologies and solar solutions can help reduce unnecessary usage while keeping your home comfortable all year round.

The future of energy starts at home

Energy Transition

The UK energy transition is already underway – and households are at the centre of it. Moving towards cleaner energy isn’t just about large-scale infrastructure, it’s about how energy is generated and used in homes by every one of us, all across the country.

Reducing demand on the grid

Solar panels and smart technologies reduce overall energy demand, easing pressure on fossil-fuel generation. By generating more of the energy you use, you support a more efficient system and reduce reliance on traditional sources at peak times.

Taking control of your energy

The energy transition is about giving households the ability to generate and manage their own energy in a simple, effective way – with smart technology playing a key role.

With tools like Utilita Optimise, we’ll manage your solar panel battery’s charge and discharge for you, helping you get more from your energy without the hassle.

A system that works for everyone

This shift isn’t a future concept. Smarter homes, cleaner energy, and reduced reliance on fossil fuels are already shaping how energy works today – with households playing a key role. You can track this progress on our Live Carbon Dashboard.

Measured sustainability progress you can trust

Progress and commitments

We believe sustainability should be backed by real action and measurable progress. That means continuously improving how we operate and being transparent about the steps we’re taking to reduce environmental impact.

Improving how we operate

We’re continually improving how we deliver installations and services, focusing on reducing emissions and increasing efficiency. By working with locally based installers, we reduce travel and associated emissions, minimising environmental impact while maintaining high service standards.

Reducing waste responsibly

Our partners follow strict waste and environmental standards, ensuring materials are reused, recycled, or disposed of responsibly wherever possible.

Supporting wider sustainability goals

As part of the wider Luxion Group , we support long-term net zero ambitions, with a target for our operations to reach Net Zero by 2030.

In the 2024–2025 financial year, we exceeded our carbon reduction targets, achieving an 85% reduction in Scope 1 and 4% in Scope 2 emissions. We also reduced our absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 26%, alongside a 13% reduction in Scope 3 carbon intensity compared to our baseline.

Responsible choices, end to end

Ethical sourcing

Sustainability doesn’t stop at installation – it includes how products are sourced, manufactured, and delivered. That’s why we work with trusted partners and follow strict standards to help ensure our solar solutions are as responsible as they are effective.

Working with trusted partners

We carry out due diligence on all suppliers and installation partners to ensure they meet required environmental, safety and ethical standards. This includes certifications such as MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) and membership of the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC).

We’re also members of Solar Energy UK, working alongside the wider industry to promote best practice and continuously improve standards across the sector.

Our solar panels are sourced from established ‘Tier 1’ global manufacturers, selected for their strong track record in quality, reliability and responsible production.

For example, our domestic panel partner LONGi meets a wide range of internationally recognised standards across environmental management, energy efficiency, health and safety, and ethical business practices. Their approach includes supply chain traceability and alignment with global frameworks on responsible sourcing.

We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and are committed to acting ethically and with integrity across our entire supply chain. We expect the same high standards from all of our partners, with clear requirements built into our procurement processes.

Being open about challenges is part of that journey. We’re committed to continuous improvement – working to reduce environmental impact and support better practices wherever we can.
