Making the switch to solar is a big decision, and we’re here to give you all the information you need before you choose to invest in your energy efficiency.
While the initial cost of solar panels can be off-putting, going greener is all about the long-term. There are plenty of benefits – not just for you and your wallet, but for the planet too.
What are the benefits of going solar?
- It’ll save you money in the long-term. Utilising solar technology in your home is a great way to keep your pennies in your pocket, by cutting on monthly energy bills.
- It’s great for the environment. By switching from fossil fuels to renewable energy, you’ll greatly improve your carbon footprint.
- It’ll give you energy independence. By producing your own energy, you’ll have less reliance on the grid. Depending on which package you choose, you may even generate enough to stop using grid-supplied energy completely.
- It’ll last you for the long haul. As long as they’re kept clean and unaffected by the environment, a new set of solar panels will last 20-35 years on average. Not only that, but you’ll break even on your investment long before that, so you’ll be saving money for decades to come.
- It’ll add value to your home. Due to the high money-saving potential, having solar panels installed tends to increase the value of most properties.
So how much could I save by going greener?
It’s hard for us to give you an exact amount you’ll save, but if you know your annual electricity usage (kWh), we’ll be able to give you a close estimation. Just click here to get started!
If you don’t know your exact usage, don’t worry! We can use the average energy usage in the UK to give you a rough figure:
Low usage: You have 1-2 bedrooms, only use energy for a few hours per day & your house tends to be empty on weekdays. If this sounds like your home, you could save roughly £500 per year by going solar!
Medium usage: You have 3-4 bedrooms, use high-energy appliances frequently & your house often has people home during the day. If this sounds like your home, you could save roughly £800 per year by going solar!
High usage: You have 4+ bedrooms, always use lots of devices at the same time & your house is rarely empty. If this sounds like your home, you could save roughly £1200 per year by going solar!
What’s the best way to maximise my savings potential?
As part of our solar packages, we offer solar battery storage and EV chargers. But what are they, and how will they save you £££s?
Sunsynk battery storage
Much like a regular battery, solar battery storage works by collecting the excess energy you’ve generated but don’t use, and storing it for later use. Essentially, you can harness the power of the sun in the day, and save some energy back for when the sun isn’t shining. This reduces your reliance on the grid, and will increase your monthly savings, so we’d strongly recommend purchasing battery storage alongside your solar panels.
Ohme EV charger
If you own an electric vehicle, or you’re thinking about getting one in the future, having your own personal EV charger will save you both time and money. The energy you generate from your solar panels doesn’t just have to power your home, but it can charge your car too. You’ll be saving £££s every time you recharge, and all from the comfort of your own home.
